The son of Thomas Henry and Betsy Ormerod, of 12 Cornholme Terrace, Cornholme, Todmorden.
The 1901 Census returns indicate that the H. Ormerod recorded in the Commonwealth War Graves Debt of Honour Register is Herbert Ormerod, son of Thomas and Betsy, and aged 3 at the time of the 1901 Census.

The family was living at 6 Spring Villas, Cornholme, at the time of the 1911 Census.
Herbert is buried in the grounds of Shore General Baptist Chapel, near Todmorden, Yorkshire (Grave Ref. New yard. A. 10). His elder sister, Mabel, is also commemorated on his gravestone.
