Ormerod First Names

Anyone who has looked into the genealogy of the Ormerod Family will have been struck by the regularity with which certain first names are repeated across the generations.

Milton Ormerod makes reference to this in the dedication of his book. The Ormerods.

"To all the Ormerods. All the Georges, Olivers, Johns, Rogers, Richards, Peters, Lawrences, Henrys, Jameses, Roberts and Williams together with All the poor devils, who, like me, Never got a gradely Ormerod name; Their long suffering wives and Their Agneses, Elizabeths, Alices, Marys, Dorothys, Sarahs and Deborahs ..."

To date 1,827 (1,051 male and 773 female) Ormerods have been found during our research, and we have examined the frequency of particular first names within these Ormerods. The results are shown below.
